HOW TO PLAY CLUEROLL
Solve an English word clue. Then roll six-faced letter cubes to spell the answer. Here’s how to find your feet.
Think of the word.
Then make it happen.
01 / THE IDEA
Part word puzzle.
Part spatial thinking.
Find the English word that fits. Think it through first—there’s no answer box to type into.
Select a cube, place it at a valid entrance, then roll along the board. Every roll changes its top face.
Line up the top letters in the answer slots. A correct letter in its correct slot turns green and locks. Complete the whole word to win.
02 / YOUR FIRST ROLL
One cube, six letters. This is a small rolling lesson, not a full daily puzzle. Your goal: reach the purple target with T on top.
Choose Place cube. Entering from the tray keeps the same top face and costs no rolls.
Roll right once: C becomes A. Roll right again: A becomes T.
Land on the target with T to lock it in. Try Undo or Start over to explore.
Look for the status as well as the color.
Blue marks a placed cube. A dark frame marks your selection.
The right letter in the right slot.
The letter belongs in the word, but not here.
This top letter isn’t in the answer.
04 / READ BETWEEN THE LETTERS
Fresh practice examples.
No future daily spoilers.
BOW · COAT · DROP
_ _ _ _RAIN — rainbow, raincoat, raindrop.
Try joining the same word to each clue. It needs to work with every one, not just the first.
A small nudgeThink about a rainy day.
A tree’s outer layer
A dog’s sharp sound
BARK — the covering of a tree, and the sound a dog makes.
Read each definition separately, then find one English word that satisfies both. You’re not looking for two different answers.
A small nudgePicture a dog beside a tree.
SUN ___ POT
_ _ _ _ _ _FLOWER — sunflower and flowerpot.
Put your answer in the middle. It should form a word or familiar phrase with the left side and with the right side. Check both.
A small nudgeYou might find it in a garden.
DAY → NIGHT
LIGHT → ?
DARK — day and night are opposites, just like light and dark.
Work out how the first pair is related, then apply the same relationship to the second pair. Here they’re opposites; other clues can use other relationships.
A small nudgeWhat happens when you turn the light off?
A LITTLE HELP IS PART OF THE GAME
Knowing the word and getting it onto the board are different challenges. Pick the help you actually need.
A nudge toward the meaning of the clue. Counted separately from cube hints.
Help with the cubes, entrances, or route—not another definition of the word.
Undo restores the previous board and route count. Reset returns the selected cube to the tray—even a locked one—and removes its route rolls. Restart clears the board and timer, but revealed hints remain available and still count. Earned fragments are not removed.
YOUR RESULT, EXPLAINED
Your result records time, the route you kept, and the hints you revealed. None of these reduce your reward.
Route rolls and YOUR ROLLS count legal rolls in your current route, not every attempt. Placement and blocked moves add no rolls; Undo and Reset remove the discarded route rolls. BEST is this puzzle’s verified minimum route, not your personal record. It has no time or hint penalty.
Daily time starts with your first cube action or revealed hint. It pauses when the page is hidden or its window loses focus, and stops on completion. Reading daily Help or hints still counts. Undo and cube Reset do not rewind time; Restart clears it until your next action.
Daily word and cube hints count separately. Opening the hint kit or rereading a revealed hint adds nothing. Weekly time starts with your first arranging action or revealed hint; it pauses when hidden, unfocused, or reading weekly Help. Its word-hint count is 0 or 1, even if reopened. Clear loose letters keeps time and hint history. Unrecorded older statistics show —, not zero.
06 / THE WEEKLY TWIST
Finish a daily puzzle to collect its four assigned letter fragments. Use them with the weekly clue to build a phrase. When all 28 letters are correct, the puzzle completes automatically and opens your collection card—no extra submission.
An illustration, not your progress or this week’s answer.
GOOD TO KNOW
No. Placement preserves its starting orientation and adds no rolls. A legal directional move then rotates it 90 degrees and adds one roll.
No. You can move only into a valid, unoccupied board cell. A blocked move doesn’t count as a roll.
Weekly feedback checks the current word: yellow means the letter belongs in that word but in another slot; red means it doesn’t belong in that word. It doesn’t check the whole phrase at once.
No. A formal daily puzzle must be fully solved to earn its reward. This lesson is separate: it doesn’t change daily progress, streaks, or weekly fragments.
This lesson resets when you reload. Formal daily and weekly progress and earned fragments save automatically in this browser when storage is available. There is no account backup or cross-device cloud sync. Clearing site data removes local progress. If a saving warning appears, keep the page open and do not reload or close it. In a weekly puzzle, use Retry saving after browser storage becomes available again—even after completing the phrase. If it still fails, keep the page open; the warning means the save has not succeeded. Daily puzzles have no manual save button; follow the daily saving warning.
